The Liturgical Seasons of the Church Year follow the pattern of the earthly life, mission, passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, his "birthing" of his Church, and the life and mission of the Church until his Second Coming at the end of time.
LENT
A period of 5 weeks to help us prepare ourselves to enter into the joy of Jesus' Resurrection at Easter by making room within ourselves to share with Jesus his love of humanity and his willingness to take upon Himself all our sins, troubles, distress, pain, temptations, suffering, and difficulty trusting in God's mercy. PURPLE is the colour of Lent in liturgical vestments, hangings, and decorations, representing an attitude of repentance, penance, reconciliation and conversion - living "the new life".
